Fan Tan
Card Game for Kids
Fan Tan card game is sometimes called Card Dominoes or Sevens. This game is easy to learn and exciting to play. The goal of the game is to get rid of your cards and to accomplish this, you will need a bit of strategy.
Number of Players: 2 or more
Age Range: 6 years and older
Materials: one standard deck of cards
How to Play:
- All the cards are dealt face down. Some players may have one card more than the others. The players sort their cards into rows of each suit.
- The player with the seven of diamonds starts the game by putting the card at the center of the table, face up.
- Then the player on the left has to see if he has the six of diamonds or the eight of diamonds to put next to the seven. If he doesn’t, he is allowed to put another seven of another suit on the table. If he doesn’t have another seven, then he has to skip his turn and the next person on the left can try to put a card on the table.
- The players have to make rows by adding the next card in the row. So after the seven, the eight, nine, ten and so on and the other way; six, five, four and so on. They are always allowed to put another seven under the diamond seven to start making a new row.
- The player who gets rid of his cards first is the winner.
- This game is really easy to learn and to play, but if you use some strategy it can be interesting. A good strategy for this game is to hold on to your sevens as long as possible and the same counts for the six and eight cards. If you can hold them in your hand, the more difficult it is for the other players to build the rows in that suit.
